• A Historic Estate

Château Guiraud, located in the heart of the Sauternes region in Bordeaux, has a rich history that dates back to the 15th century. Originally known as La Maison Noble du Bayle, the estate gained its current name when it was purchased by Bordeaux négociant Pierre Guiraud in 1766. Over the centuries, Château Guiraud has established itself as one of the premier producers of Sauternes, renowned for its sweet wines made from grapes affected by noble rot, or Botrytis cinerea.

    Premier Grand Cru Classé

In 1855, Château Guiraud was classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé, a testament to its exceptional quality and prestige. The estate spans 110 hectares, with vineyards planted predominantly with Sémillon (65%) and Sauvignon Blanc (35%). These grapes are carefully harvested and vinified to produce the château's signature blend, which is aged in oak barrels for 18 months before bottling.

    Sustainable Practices

Château Guiraud is also known for its commitment to sustainable and organic farming practices. In 2011, Chateau Guiraud was the first Premier Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification to receive organic certification. The estate's innovative approach to viticulture includes maintaining biodiversity and promoting natural vineyard management techniques, which contribute to the unique character and quality of its wines.
