Inside the Glass: A Fireside Chat & Wine Tasting Experience at The Battery
On a crisp autumn evening in San Francisco, 44 guests gathered inside The Parlor at The Battery—one of the city’s most storied private clubs for a fireside chat and wine tasting experience. Presented by Moon Hollow Estate, Cellar Mouse, and Melier, the event brought together wine enthusiasts for an intimate evening where conversation and terroir intertwined.
Guided by Xochi Birch, Co-founder and Owner of Moon Hollow Estate, Christophe Tassan, Wine Director of Moon Hollow Estate, and Rachel Dickinson, Sommelier and Founder of CellarMouse.com, the evening explored the soul of Sonoma’s Moon Mountain District—unfolding its story through conversation, connection, and a guided tasting of expressive estate wines.
Rachel opened the fireside chat with a question that set the tone for the evening: “When did you get the wine bug?”
From there, Christophe and Xochi delved into the origins of Moon Hollow Estate—its volcanic soils, mountain terroir, and the guiding philosophy behind its winemaking.
Guests were then led through a seated tasting of four estate wines:
- 2023 Sauvignon Blanc
- 2022 Grenache
- 2022 Syrah
- 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon
Each wine showcased a distinct facet of Moon Hollow’s high-elevation vineyards.
The Q&A was especially lively, sparking conversation and thoughtful reflections between the hosts and guests.
The evening concluded with a relaxed mix-and-mingle at The Parlor bar, where guests enjoyed pours of Moon Hollow’s 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2022 Cabernet Franc before drifting into The Battery’s elegant lounges.
