Favia
Rooted in Place. Crafted with Care.
Tucked into the southeastern corner of Napa Valley, the Coombsville AVA has long been one of the region’s best-kept secrets. With its cool climate, gravelly volcanic soils, and gentle afternoon breezes funneled in from San Pablo Bay, Coombsville offers a slower, more graceful ripening season—perfect for crafting site-driven wines of elegance and depth. And few capture that essence more beautifully than Favia.
Favia's philosophy is refreshingly straightforward: create soulful wines that express the true nature of the vineyards from which they come. With Annie’s deep knowledge of viticulture and Andy’s acclaimed winemaking, Favia has become a beacon for wines that are are both powerful and elegant.
Upon arrival at Favia's Coombsville property, guests are welcomed with a chilled glass of the 2023 Favia LÍNEA Sauvignon Blanc and invited to explore the lush garden—tasting herbs, strawberries, and vegetables fresh from the vine.
From there, the experience flows into the historic Carbone House, where a serene barrel room lined with elegant rows of wine offers a glimpse into what’s to come. The cellar’s serene atmosphere reflects the spirit of the place: winemaking here is intentional, soulful, and deeply rooted in respect for the land.

Favia crafts several Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc-driven wines, often blending the two to striking effect. Known for their structure and aromatic complexity, Favia’s wines offer generous fruit balanced by savory notes—think pencil shavings, sage, dried herbs, and crushed stone. That distinctive mineral thread is a signature of Coombsville, where volcanic soils and cool temperatures produce wines that are both powerful and elegant.
During our Creekside Tasting, we explored a selection that showcased Favia’s portfolio of world-class red wines:
- 2021 Favia CERRO SUR Red Wine – Crafted from old-vine Cabernet Franc high in the Vaca Mountains, this wine offers vibrant acidity with lingering notes of dark fruit and earth on the palate
- 2021 Favia LA MAGDALENA Red Wine – A bold, beautifully layered blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from Favia's Oakville Ranch
- 2021 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville – Deep garnet-purple in color, this elegant Cabernet Sauvignon offers captivating aromatics and polished, fine-grained tannins
- 2021 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville – Full-bodied and richly layered on the palate, this wine is both aromatic and beautifully balanced, with impressive depth and concentration

A Place With Deep Roots
The Favia property carries historical weight—it stands on land once owned by Nathan Coombs, founder of the city of Napa and the namesake of the appellation. That legacy is woven into every aspect of the winery, from the careful restoration of the Carbone House to the craftsmanship found in each bottle. Favia’s wines feel like a bridge—linking old-world sensibility with new-world precision.
Private tastings at Favia can be arranged by appointment Monday - Thursday. To make arrangements or inquire for further details, contact creekside@faviawines.com.
